Best Open Source Android Apps | 3 Top Android Apps
Android has a ton of Open Source Apps available. Some are good, some are not so good. This video cover 3 of my favorite Open Source Android Apps I use on a daily basis.
Bromite is a Chromium fork featuring privacy and ad blocking features. Bromite's goal is to provide a clutter-free browsing experience with no privacy-invading features and a fast ad-blocking engine. To assist combat the perception of "browser as an advertisement platform," some UI adjustments are made.
NewPipe is a free and open-source Android media player that is primarily known for being an unauthorized YouTube client. The F-Droid software repository, NewPipe's F-Droid repository, and the GitHub releases page all have it. It can be used as a substitute for YouTube's official app.
TrackerControl is an Android software that allows users to monitor and limit the ubiquitous, ongoing, and secret data collecting of user behavior ('tracking') in mobile apps.
TrackerControl combines the strength of Firefox's Disconnect blocklist with our own in-house blocklist, which was produced after analyzing over 2 million programs! TrackerControl also allows you to create your own blocklists.
The app also aims to inform you on your data protection rights, such as the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).
TrackerControl analyzes app network connections locally on the Android smartphone using Android's VPN capability. This is performed by using a local VPN server to allow TrackerControl to analyze network traffic.
Other VPNs or Private DNS are not supported, and root is not necessary. To keep your data safe, no external VPN server is used! TrackerControl also protects you from DNS cloaking, which is a common method for hiding trackers in websites and apps.
