Long-Tailed Tits: Masters of Nest Building. How do they do it?
Long-tailed tits are early breeders. They start to construct their nests in February. I use a thermal imager to help locate a suitable nest and then film it in slow motion using first a DJI Action 4 camera and then the Lumix G9 Mk2.
Made of moss, lichens, feathers and spiders silk cocoons they they make this incredible structure using just their bills. I could not do it with two hands.
Amazing birds.
