The following are Jason’s comments regarding sodium intake that were compromised by audio quality around 40:30 time mark.

Commonly, people focus only on reducing sodium in their diet when it comes to discussing heart healthy diet. However, this is only one small piece of a heart healthy diet. Arguably more important than watching our sodium intake for heart health, we should also be eating a variety of good sources of fiber (fruits, veggies, whole grains, legumes, nuts/seeds), especially these foods that are also high in potassium and magnesium. These are essential minerals – that most Americans lack in their diet - that are also key to a heart healthy diet and helping the body control the levels of sodium. We also need to recognize the importance of including heart healthy fats. So, don’t limit the conversation about heart healthy diet to just a “low salt diet”, as many may only focus on.
