Beautiful DIY Fabric Roses. This tutorial shows you how to make fabric roses from satin, chiffon, silk, or any other fabric, using simple step-by-step instructions. These handmade roses can be used to decorate a wedding dress, basket, wedding box, or any other festive accessory. First, you'll need a piece of your desired fabric. You'll need to cut a strip of fabric, but there's a secret you need to know. When fabric strips are cut along the edges of the canvas, they usually don't have much stretch, but when they're cut diagonally, you'll see much more stretch. Cut a strip 7 cm wide and 50-60 cm long to give your rose a fuller look. When you fold the fabric strip, leave about 1 cm on one side for gathering. Sew the fold using a sewing machine. As you feed the fabric through the machine, pull the bottom of the fold toward the top to create a gather. You can always hand-embroider if you prefer. Creating ruffles will give the rose an authentic look. Don't worry if your stitching isn't perfect. Use a needle and thread and begin folding the strip of fabric into a rose. Longer strips will create fuller roses, and, of course, shorter strips will create a tighter-looking bud. Secure the edge of the rose with a slip stitch. You can use any embellishments in the center of the rose, such as beads or rhinestones.
