It was bound to happen ladies and gentlemen: an actual mod showcase of the Magical College of Winterhold! This time with a production value budget greater than $14.
It's a huge understatement to say that we all cringe at the works of our younger selves. Many of us wish that we could go back to change something or do it all over again differently. And for almost everybody in the world, going back to correct a wrong or improve the original work is impossible; it'll forever remain as a wish to those people. Well it must suck to be those people, because I actually get to do something about it. We're covering the Magical College of Winterhold in Skyrim for the Xbox Series S, X, and One (again). Also available for Skyrim on the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5.
The College of Winterhold is one of the most important places in Skyrim. You go to it in several quests for a Macguffin or to speak to someone. And it has it's own important faction quest, rewarding the player with armor, a player home, and a staff of legend. It's hyped up as being the most magical place in all of Skyrim, housing some of the most powerful wizards and best place to practice magic. But, when you get there, it's incredibly disappointing. For starters, it's as ugly as sin. Decorated with more animal heads and hides than Gaston's house. There's a severe lack of magical / mystical aesthetic and even less items or resources to train your magical skills.
So, this mod gives this magical institute a proper overhaul. It adds in crafting stations previously locked to the DLC quests of Skyrim, several items to train mage skills, and makes the College look significantly better. It's one of the best mods for Skyrim on the consoles. This is a hill I have no problem dying on.
