For human beings, blame is this hot potato we can’t stand to hold. We want to pass that nasty feeling to someone else as fast as possible. Sometimes to avoid blame, we stand in victim where we hold the blame outside ourselves and throw blame outwards. Sometimes we absorb too much blame and rather than turning the blame outwards in victim, we turn the anger inwards in shame. This inwards self-loathing is far more destructive than outward blaming. The reality is, whether you blame someone else or yourself – blame doesn’t help you move forward. It only keeps you in a prison of disempowerment.
