I thought this tip might only be relevant for my own Japanese audience, but after talking with teachers elsewhere, I was surprised to learn how many learners of English are still hesitant to ask for repetition or clarification when they don't understand something. Not only that, but sometimes they are so embarrassed that they pretend to understand!
