It explains the following four criticisms of a Marxist view of Crime.
1. It’s deterministic: it assumes people are passive and strongly shaped/limited by the social structure.
2. The legal system sometimes works against the interests of the ruling class.
3. Crime has been decreasing in the UK since 1992, BUT UK society is becoming more crimogenic.
4. Some capitalist countries have low crimes rates e.g. Japan
