Helping women access information and support for their mental wellbeing after childbirth.

We know that many women experience postpartum depression or low mood after childbirth. However, for some it might be difficult to get the right support and treatment. In our research, we have found that 60% of women have a health check-up with their GP six weeks after childbirth and that this can help to identify those needing support with their mental wellbeing. However, some women may delay seeking help or may not get help at all. This could be because they don't know where to get support or they may be worried to ask for help. In our project, we have developed a short, animated film which provides mums with information about their mental wellbeing after childbirth and directs them to sources of help and support.
