Chromecast with Google TV is an exciting new streaming device that offers 4K video, and a highly personalized experience, at an excellent price. In this video, I compare the Chromecast with Google TV to the Amazon Firestick 4K. I discuss physical design, the controller, services and content available, differences in the user interface (UI), casting, mirroring, and how to best use both devices with an Android or iPhone.
Chromecast with Google TV has the advantage of having a highly personalized home screen and UI that recommends content to your based upon subscriptions, viewing activity, and content that you own. This device does a great job of listing rating, length, and price without having to click into the description.
Fire TV (Firestick 4K) offers a similar experience to Chromecast with Google TV. While Fire TV is compatible with most apps, there are some apps, such as Kodi and Peacock, that are not currently available on the Firestick. This is because the Chromecast with Google TV is based upon Android TV, and is a more open platform than Fire TV.
