Congrats to the #GHRS Hackathon team for being awarded 2nd place at the Space and Global health hackathon organised by the European Space Agency - ESA and Geneva Digital Health Hub.

The group worked with GEO’s Urban Resilience Coordinator Martyn Clark and team to design a prototype for GEO’s Global Heat Resilience Service.

The goal? A platform to help cities manage risks from extreme heat. 🔥

For more and more cities worldwide, extreme heat is recognised as the most pressing concern in relation to climate change.

But many lack the data and evidence on heat risks to be able to understand where and how to intervene to reduce heat risks.

The team designed a decision-support tool prototype to generate insights on heat risks in urban settings, in plain language, with clear maps and data visualisations to ‘make the case’.

GEO’s Global Heat Resilience Service aims to help every city understand the dangers of extreme heat.
