Along with a bellwork and bathroom routine, teachers need to have a routine for dismissing students. Students can be a chaotic time and if you don't do it properly, you will end up losing materials or cleaning up left behind messes.
With this two step process, you can ensure your classroom management. The key is following the order of the steps and doing both parts in smaller groups. The first step is to dismiss student materials (ie, have them put the materials away). Then, you move to the second step, which is to dismiss students.
