Scorpius Pad Abort
On February 2nd, 2023, ASE successfully completed the Pad Abort Test of our Scorpius crew spacecraft. This test demonstrated the capsule’s ability to escape from the rocket in the unlikely event of a failure on the launch pad. The vehicle’s SAS engines fired to propel the vehicle away from the pad, the service module separated, and parachutes were deployed. The capsule splashed down in the ocean near the launch site minutes later. The next mission of this spacecraft will be Launch Demo - 1, a full orbital test flight of the craft.
