Hey!
Today I’m making a simple wooden chisel case/guard out of a piece of firewood.
This is a very old chisel that once belonged to my great grandpa. It is almost 100 years old!!!. It probably needs a new handle one of these days. I’ll try to document the restoring/rehandeling of this chisel too for those interested.
The case is made from a dry piece of birch firewood. I also glued a little piece of leather in the back of the case to protect the sharp edge. I only used an axe, chisel, mallet, plane and glue. The case is finished with boiled linseed oil.
This video is very primitive because I don’t have a lot of tools and a dedicated workspace for woodworking at the moment. On the other hand shows this video that you don’t need a lot of tools and fancy equipment to make something :).
Disclaimer: There are probably better or safer ways to complete a project such as this and I am by no means a professional.
