Part 4 | Graph Plotting With Mean & Standard Deviation in Excel | Error Bar | Young Researchers
To plot a graph with mean and standard deviation in Excel, you can follow these steps:
Enter your data into two columns, with the independent variable in the first column and the dependent variable in the second column.
Calculate the mean and standard deviation for each group of data. You can do this using the AVERAGE and STDEV.P functions in Excel.
Select the range of cells that contains your data and click the Insert tab.
Under the Charts group, click the type of chart you want to create. For example, to create a bar chart, click the Bar chart type.
In the Chart Editor, click the Add Chart Element button and select Error Bars.
Under Error Bar Options, select Custom and then click the Specify Value button.
In the Specify Error Values dialog box, select the range of cells that contains your standard deviation values.
Click OK to close the dialog box and then click Close to close the Chart Editor.
Your chart will now be updated with error bars that represent the standard deviation of your data.
