1990 Trek 7000 Rebuild/Resto-Mod
Here's my vintage made-in-USA 1990 Trek 7000 aluminum mountain bike, rebuilt with a few more modern features. I picked this up last summer and restored it over the subsequent months. I updated the geometry with a new shorter and taller stem and put on wider bars. This has made it much more usable. Otherwise, I tried to stay true to the original. I had to get a new front derailleur because the original one would not clamp on right and kept slipping down the seat tube. I also needed to have the warped headset replaced as well as the front shifter. I put on more modern GT PC Logo flat pedals and Pilgrips both in pink in keeping with the late 80s/early 90s style. As with all old bike projects, there were many snags along the way. I'm new to mountain biking, so this has been a fun way to try it out!
