I totally understand why these words are being used. Things really are staggering and unprecedented. And as an expert in communication, I know that language influences the way we think, feel, and behave. But there is also the risk that constant repetition will have the unintended effect of weakening their impact.
Now, one of the great beauties of the English language is its rich and wide vocabulary. It’s one of the reasons it’s so hard for non-native speakers to learn. For every word, there are synonyms, sometimes a lot of them. So whatever you’re communicating, start thinking about varying your word usage. Thesaurus.com should become your best friend.
