Cho Hyun worked as a newspaper reporter for 33 years.
At The Hankyoreh, a leading progressive newspaper in Korea, he worked in the social and political departments before becoming a religion specialist reporter in the culture department.
In particular, as a religion specialist reporter for 23 years, he established an unrivaled position by maintaining special friendships with ascetic monks and religious practitioners in deep mountain temples—places difficult for the general public to access—and conducting in-depth coverage.
