What are the changes in materials that are harmful to the environment?
Imagine your favorite toy! When it's new, it works perfectly, right? But some materials change in ways that aren't so good, kind of like a broken toy. Here are two ways materials can change that hurt the environment:
Not rotting away: Some materials, like plastic bottles or bags, take a super long time to break down. This means they can pile up in landfills or even end up in oceans, harming animals and making things look messy.
Poisoning the land and water: Some materials, like paint or car batteries, have chemicals inside. If they leak out, they can pollute the soil and water, making it unsafe for plants and animals.
Remember, taking care of our environment is like taking care of our toys! We need to be mindful of the materials we use and throw away to keep our planet healthy.
