Basic is Best on Sunday Gunday (Colt M4A1 SOCOM)
Perfect sunny day shooting the perfect rifle. Colt AR15-A3 LE/MIL marked lower with Colt everything aside from a Magpul ASAP, topped off with a Diemaco upper receiver, Colt SOCOM barrel, KAC RAS, old style Colt C stamped FA BCG, and Colt charging handle and carry handle. Funny enough, despite the many clone-based AR builds I have, this is my first Colt lower.
Got this in a recent trade as is minus the carry handle, and was a bit scuffed externally, but after a cleaning, has run amazing. Haven't run a milspec trigger in a while, but in the end, it was perfectly fine. Did a quick and dirty 50/200 zero approximation at the 10 yards I was at, but will take it back out another day to get a RIBZ dialed in. Honestly a lot more fun shooting this than I have my other ARs recently, so will keep this basic setup for a bit. Sunny day and rapid shooting got the RAS heating up quite a bit, and since I forgot to bring my shooting gloves, had to make do with the ov-gloves.
If you saw my recent poll, was deciding on three different directions to take this rifle, and I've decided to do all three. I'm gonna rock this basic M4 style for a while ala old-school Counter-Strike, then throw on an ergo rail and LaRue/Geissele 'Tower of Power' Vortex Razor 1-6 setup for a Force Recon M4, then finally end up with an early 2000's LAPD SWAT build with the SureFire M500, carry handle, and TA47 ACOG.
