Hydrostor came to Rosamond Municipal Advisory Council (RMAC) on Thursday evening July 21, 2022, to explain its proposed Willow Rock energy storage project at the southeast corner of Tehachapi Willow Springs Road and Hamilton Road.
This project plans to store 500 megawatts of energy underground by putting compressed air down into vaults 2000 feet under ground then letting that air back out to run generators when solar power facilities are not generating.
As a leading developer of Advanced Compressed Air Energy Storage (A-CAES) the company says Goldman Sachs invested 250 million dollars in the company during January of 2022 and the Rosamond plant will be a big step forward for worldwide energy storage.
