Battle.net Installation Guide for Steam Deck - Get Ready for the Release of Diablo IV!

Command to Add Memory Card Support:
STEAM_COMPAT_MOUNTS=/run/media/mmcblk0p1/ %command%

Today, we'll be discussing Battle.net on Steam Deck, a launcher from Actvision Blizzard that features exclusive games from the Diablo series and Overwatch. Unfortunately, I'll start by pointing out that Call of Duty and Warzone are still unplayable due to anticheat. There are several installation methods, but today I'll show you how to do it manually. If you've watched my other videos, especially the one about the Epic Games Store, I'll briefly explain that everything is done in a similar way.

Start in desktop mode and download the Batte.net installer via your web browser. Then, add the downloaded file to Steam. Now we need to force it to be compatible with Proton, and in this case, I recommend Proton Experimental – in case of a crash, it receives updates the fastest.

Click "Play," select the installation language, and follow the prompts.

I changed the installation path directly to the C drive prefix to make it easier to find, but this isn't necessary. When the login window pops up, close the program and go to the Dolphin file browser.

Make sure hidden files are visible and navigate from the Home directory to Steam, then Steam and Steam Apps to find the Compat Data folder. Here, I recommend sorting the folders by modification date and, in the latest folder, navigating to the location where you installed the program. Add Battle.net.exe to Steam.

Return to your library and search for Battle.net.exe in the list. We need to force it to Proton Experimental again. I also removed the suffix from the name to easily download the covers later. Then click "Play." Log in to your account and make sure to enable the program to remember your data.

Now you can change the language to Polish in the settings if you want, and be sure to check that Battle.net closes after launching the game. For example, Diablo II Ressurected has significant performance drops, so this option is not changed. When you're ready, you can start downloading your chosen game. However, if you want to install it on your memory card, you'll need to enter the following command in the program properties in Steam. Follow the instructions on the screen, and here's the command again:
STEAM_COMPAT_MOUNTS=/run/media/mmcblk0p1/ %command%

It's a good idea to have a folder on your memory card so you can easily find it in the list of drives. The installer is a bit confusing, but if you enter any folder name in the path field, the installation will continue correctly despite the error. In fact, at this point, you can now enter game mode. Battle.net should appear as the first item in your game list, and if not, you'll find it in your library under the non-Steam games tab. I recommend setting the covers right away using Decky and the Steam Grid plugin.

Launch the program and select your chosen game from the list. Most titles work fine without any tweaks. If I remember correctly, Diablo Immortal still requires some tweaking, but I'll update this guide soon on gamingmode.pl.
Let me know in the comments if you plan to play Diablo 4. I opted for the standard version, so I won't be taking advantage of the early access a few days before release, but I'm looking forward to it because the beta was great for me. The game also received very positive reviews today, so I'm optimistic. If you have any installation issues, let us know in the comments; we'll try to help.
