Oh, this is the greatest city on earth, so they say.
As if drawn with chalk on the wall, this place is portrayed.
Drawn are boulevards and bridges, rivers and wide streets.
Different-colored freckles, white bows, many things to see.
Oh, this city, as it wakes up, looks toward clouds in awe.
Somewhere near there not long ago the moon had withdrawn.
And now birds rise on their wings and toward the sky explode
While a white ship sails away to somewhere that's unknown.
There's no other city nearby like this one, it's true.
Smiling at all passersby, it won't bid you adieu.
Helping people trust in miracles, worlds without flaws.
Fountains shooting straight to heaven, while all yell "Hurrah!"
I can't say I really know a place where spring exists as lovely as this one.
But, perhaps I will let go of all the passing winds and stay, forever young.
Light blue sidewalks and blue flowers. Vivid, bright pink dreams.
Where bright yellow trams move swiftly on two iron beams.
As if drawn with chalk on the wall, this place is portrayed
Oh, this is the greatest city on earth, so they say!
