For this we scanned an area within a room several times and registered them together as cluster. Each cluster represents a timestamp (e.g. one day). To simulate a volume, we used a cloth and changed its area and volume to cover after one cluster was finished scanning.
Analyzing the volume is simple. You create a plane as base for an area measurement. You then use the area measurement as a base for your volume measurement. Because each cluster is registered to each other, and each cluster uses the same base at the same position, we can compare the computed volume afterwards to each other.
In the end we generate a report in Microsoft Excel to visual the change from one cluster/timestamp to another.
