Let's learn COPTIC bookbinding and make an aquarelle sketchbook
Coptic binding is an old bookbinding technique. Couple of years ago I tried it at school, but I forgot a lot of the steps so I had to try and make many mistakes along the way. Coptic bookbinding was fun, but I deffinetly prefer the technique I use every day for binding my journals.
The stitching of a finely made Coptic-bound book is likely to hold its pages in place far longer than many modern book-binding method. Coptic bindings are usually sewn using a single needle and string of thread.. A chain link stitch is created along the spine and Kettle stitch at head and tail. Coptic binding creates a book that can lie completely flat when opened.
