To help those who are new to knitting or just learning to knit:
Rapport is a repeating part of a pattern. Rapport for each pattern has a certain number of loops in width and a certain number of rows in height. The number of loops in a row must be a multiple of the number of loops in the rapport, and loops for pattern symmetry are indicated additionally (if they are in the pattern). Example: "the number of loops is a multiple of 2 + 1 + 2 edge." 1 in this case is a loop for pattern symmetry.
The star-shaped symbol* means that the part of the pattern between the stars *-* should be repeated to the end of the row, and the loops located before the star are worked for symmetry at the beginning of the row, and those located after the stars - at the end of the row.
Abbreviations:
● p. - loop;
● spc. - knitting needle;
vspc. - auxiliary knitting needle
● selv. - edge loop;
● knit. - knit loop;
● purl. - purl loop;
● inc. - add a loop;
● crossed - crossed loops are two or more loops that need to be crossed from left to right or right to left, usually with the help of an auxiliary knitting needle.
