2020 is certainly a year in infamy. Quarantine… Stuck at home… Worrying about getting infected… Worrying about your love one. If we have learnt anything this year, it should be that our health is and should be our utmost priority.
Hi, I am Clement, one of the organizers of HealthHack Australia 2020.
Unlike other hackathons, Healthhack is about open source product-building and the created projects will all be available in the official HealthHack GitHub repository. HealthHack is meant to bring student, researchers, scientists, educator and healthcare professionals together with coders and designer to create innovative solutions.
The hackathon will be happening on IBM cloudtheater which is a sponsor for this event and it will be using a new online meeting platform called Remo where you can choose your own table, work with your team and make it easier to engage with people online.
Currently, we have 6 problem sets:
A. #problem-auslancommunitydataportal
Description: Machine learning approaches require large datasets to train, and such a dataset is not available for Australian Sign Language — Jessica Korte
B. #problem-cryofilter
Description: A deep learning solution for high resolution protein structures — Gavin Rice
C. #problem-nottheonlyone
Description: Capturing, curating and sharing stories and data about racism — Rowland Mosbergen
D. #problem-oscar
Description: Digital support system that explores empathetic ways that young adult sufferers can manage their experience of inflammatory bowel disease — Molly Lewis
E. #problem-trackersafe
Description: Improving contact tracing and data privacy for COVID-19 in developing countries — Gloria Quiroga
F. #problem-visionimpairedfriendlymedicalforms

The hackathon will begin on July 24 Friday at 5:30 pm GMT +10 Australia Brisbane time. And it will end on August Second Sunday. The event will be on the two weekends, but not the week between them. However, you are encouraged to keep developing during that time.
There is no need to form a team prior to the hackathon.
Because health hack australia is about cooperation, not competition. It is about building something that will help humanity now and in the future
Tickets are free and will close soon on July 20th on eventbrite, unless they are sold out earlier. So if you have a passion for health and medical research, education, science, software development, engineering and design., or even if you want to contribute a new problem set. You might want to hurry up and sign up now and join our Slack channel, since we already have over 100 participants!
I look forward to meeting you. And I will see you on July 24.
