I was blocked from Quora after answering two questions. Let me explain and I will start from the beginning. I have been doing YouTube for a week now. The result was too embarrassing for me to verbalize. Since last night, I am thinking that I must begin digital marketing. Since I don’t really like social networks out there, I have decided to use Quora for marketing.
If you don’t know, Quora is a Q and A website for answering questions of all kinds. To the programmers out there, it is like stack overflow but less technically focused.
I have two objectives. Increase the amount of views on my YouTube channel. Increase the number of ideas/topics in terms of content creation.
How does answering questions in Quora increase my YouTube channel view?
First, I will only answer question that is related to my channel’s content
Second, I will answer question that don’t have a lot of answers (which are my competition) The few answer they have, the more likely my newly added answer will be chosen.
Third, I will always give a detailed explanation in the answer which is either followed by or embedded with a link to my YouTube channel.
Basically, I was hoping that people will see my content when they are searching topics related to my video.
First I gathered a list of 50 questions that I think I can answer properly.
I slowly realized that some users are really good at detailed answers, so I have to skip a lot of questions.
I arrived at a topic that not a lot of people answered: Startup Weekend, which I did a video a few days ago.
I started typing my detailed answers in quora one after another.
I didn’t count words, but at least 500 - 1000 words were used for each answer.
Right after I submitted my second answer.
I received a notification from quora, saying I am temporarily edit blocked.
I was confused. I was careful about my answer. I didn’t say anything that wasn’t true to the best of my knowledge.
So why, why did quora block me.
Apparently, I was blocked because I used my nickname instead of my real name in the quora profile. I have only just found out that Quora was really picky about that.
There was no warning from Quora to add my real name or even fill in my last name in the registration process. If they are using this criteria to block people, shouldn’t they have a warning sign there to notify users? I used my google account to sign up my quora, so my YouTube name is automatically transferred to Quora.
Being blocked breaks me. I really wanted to use my YouTube name in Quora because the only reason that I am writing there is to promote my channel. That didn’t work out.
I guess I will use my personal email account to try again.

Plus, I really don’t understand
So in order to prove that your answer if legit, you have to use your real name. That doesn’t make sense. Shouldn’t the content be judged by the quality of it, instead of whether the writer or the contributor provide their identity?

I thought the whole point of Q and A website use crowd sourcing way of eliminating the bad answers
