On this very day over three decades ago, Bon Jovi paid their first visit to Mannheim with two legendary concerts to follow in 2003 and 2011. Probably by trying to pull something special out of the hat, they threw Fear back on the setlist but ended up with the messiest and in my opinion worst live rendition of the song.
For a long time, the only version around started with the second song. Another audio tape (or lower quality) was tracked down which gave me the chance to patch the start with it, the source switches to the known one on at the start of the Wild In The Streets.
The sound was quite thin and, upon close listen, needed an inversion of the left channel. Much like Koblenz some time back, these big open air events meant a lot of casual fans in attendance and made for a lot of nearby noise (clapping and talking). The audio was clear, but quite thin. It was reworked for a better balance and more punch coming from the lower end while trying to maintain the clarity in the upper range. Besides the aforementioned crowd issues, it's overall a decent one.
Sound remastered!
