Many people have an inadequate and frivolous idea of Heaven, often conceiving of it as a dull place where one spends their time kneeling, playing the harp, and singing hymns. This popular view makes Heaven unattractive to many, potentially leading to a situation where fear, rather than love, drives religious life.
In reality, Sacred Scripture teaches us that Heaven is simply God, and the description of this joy is beyond our human capacity. However much we stretch our imaginations, the difference between us and God is infinitely profound, preventing us from having the slightest notion of what God is in His essence.
Nevertheless, logic allows us to assume that Heaven must satisfy every legitimate desire. There will be no disappointments there; its torrents of delights will not satiate us, and everything will come to pass and exceed our expectations. What should be the harvest of our labors means that all art, all science, and all creation will be seen as an aspect of God, allowing us to understand Him more perfectly and enjoy Him more and more.
In the end, no matter how high we raise our minds, we will always remain like the ape observing man. But we can be sure that in God our Lord we will experience what we cannot even conceive here: we will see all, know all, and possess all, receiving a share in His power.
