The Commemoration of the fall of Saigon, South Vietnam. Forty nine years ago, the fall of Saigon, the capital of the Republic of Vietnam on April 30, 1975, marked the end of Vietnam War. Millions of southern Vietnamese fled the country to escape the Communist rule and seek freedom and democracy. Many of them — including myself — arrived in the United States to start new lives. We hold this commemoration every year to honor those to fought and died for the Republic of Vietnam. This event took place on April 30, 2024 at the Sid Goldstein Freedom Park in Westminster, California, where the statues of American and South Vietnamese soldiers stand in honor of those who died in the war.
