Granite & Hermit: We Broke an Oar!
We raft the Colorado River through Grand Canyon with my good friend and Canyon Explorations trip leader Marieke Taney. Thanks to the 2022-2023 winter, the Colorado saw some of its biggest flows in years this spring, making Hermit truly monstrous in size.
As we ran it, Hermit's fifth wave caught and instantly snapped our left oar. It was a sobering reminder of the river's power.
