Hemorrhoids, also known as "piles," are vascular bundles located in the anal canal. Anatomically, there are three main bundles in the submucosa of the anal canal: one on the left and two on the right. Hemorrhoids can be classified in different ways: based on their relationship to the dentate line or their degree of prolapse.
Treatment for the disease should be based on the degree of symptoms, prolapse, and complications of the hemorrhoidal disease. There are three different treatment options: medical, nonsurgical, and surgical.
