Coach Tino shows and talks about the first 2 parts of the evolution of throwing to the bases.
Tino firstly goes over how to correctly exchange the ball.
Your hands move before your feet. Your hands must be ready before your feet so your throw is more accurate.
The first drill Tino does is taking his glove to his right ear and keep making that movement so you get the feel for it.
You then move on to having a partner throwing the ball to you so you are able to make that movement by catching the ball and making that same movement and grabbing that ball with your throwing hand and get the feel for this position.
The second movement is you get into your secondary stance and then you do the first step with receiving the ball and then you move into moving your feet.
1. Move your right foot to the middle of your body so you're lined up with second base.
2. Make the movement by keeping your weight on the back leg then rocking forward as you would throw the ball.
When doing this drill, it is important to move your hands first and get the back leg in the right position.
Remember to use your whole body, not just your arm.
Stay tuned for part 3 of the evolution of throwing to the bases!
