Crossroads may sit at the center of the Barrens — but it’s not designed for the Barrens.
In this immersive architectural critique, I explore how the fusion of Orc and Tauren design language creates a visually iconic but functionally flawed Horde settlement.
🛖 Tauren Structures
Lightweight and breathable
Ideal for passive cooling in daytime heat
But… no insulation — they bleed warmth during cold nights
🛡️ Orc Structures
Heavy, high thermal mass with thick materials
Great insulation, hard to destroy
But they trap heat — turning hostile quickly without airflow
🏜️ The Problem?
Neither style fits the Barrens climate.
This isn’t climate-responsive design — it’s cultural representation through structure.
Crossroads reflects resilience, not comfort.
Tauren huts are fragile, but easy to rebuild.
Orc buildings are durable, but slow to construct.
It’s not optimal — and it wasn’t meant to be.
It’s a symbol of unity… not efficiency.
