Sonya Kovalevsky – Sweden's first female professor
On this day–15 January–in 1850, Sonja Kovalevsky was born. In 1889, she was appointed professor at Stockholm University College (today Stockholm University) becoming Sweden's first female professor and the world's first female professor of mathematics.
