How can we predict future sea level rise
What can the northern Greenland ice sheets tell us about future sea level rise? That’s what researcher at Stockholm University, among others, want to find out when they embark on an expedition to Ostenfeldt Glacier.
This expedition is the last in a series of three expeditions under the theme North Greenland Earth-Ocean-Ecosystem Observatory program.The goal of the expeditions is to collect crucial data to be able to predict future sea level rises. Previous expeditions were conducted to the Ryder Glacier in 2019 and the Petermann Glacier in 2015.
Nina Kirchner, professor of glaciology and Martin Jakobsson, professor of marine geology and geophysics at Stockholm University, are responsible for leading the research on board. The expedition is coordinated by the Swedish Polar Research Secretariat.
