Tairāwhiti Adventure Trust trustee Kingsbeer said “as a skateboarder I'm amped; as a dad I'm privileged to be part of the team delivering assets for our children and our future generations.”
The trust had been motivated by a love of the region and a desire to provide spaces to “uplift our people”.
Mr Kingsbeer said “we are just getting started” in reference to the skate park, the pump track across the road and other big plans, including a couple of major upcoming events.
He thanked contractors, designers, Gisborne District Council, the Rongowhakaata iwi and, most importantly, Trust Tairāwhiti. Mayor Rehette Stoltz congratulated the trust for its vision and work.
