Well, monthly TT came along for 7κ in January, and I decided to start things off with Luigi Circuit. It went quite well to be honest with you.
First and most importantly, I was playing around with the extra SMT from before the shroom cut. A couple years ago, Mode and I were investigating if releasing an SMT there would be faster, but we didn't end up making it faster without losing time. Then last month I decided to play around with it more, and looks like reo-drifting makes it much easier to release without getting a wide line towards cut. I'd say it's around .150 faster, as you can see on lap 1, compared with Niceday's ghost.
I also included the "drift-on-curb" strat, whatever you wanna call, so essentially what Kart WR does. It makes the shortcut more consistent when it comes to getting slowed down by the grass, but it's a pain to not fail it. The curb can make Jetsetter fly into the pipe, or just lose control and bonk the wall. It's not the most consistent thing by any means, and probably doesn't save a ton, but I opted to do it.
As for the run itself, pretty nice. My end goal was a .3 before the month was over, but I didn't end up getting it. My shortcuts on laps 2 and 3 were a bit wide, but I didn't get any major slow downs. Lines were pretty solid overall, and I got 3/3 reo-drifts for the SMTs before cut every single lap, so I'm satisfied with this run.
I'm feeling much better than I was describing in my last video, so I'm probably going to continue grinding Jetsetter indefinitely.
