The Rock and Ice team was out in force at the Ice Climbing World Cup finals in Denver last weekend - the first time they've come to the city! It was a great weekend of competition and there were lots of exciting whips to boot - including a couple we caught on camera.
In the first whip, Mira Alhonsuo of Finland takes a back-slapping pendulum into the competition wall.
In the second whip, Cora Lie Jary of France loses purchase on the swinging volumes – and a tool, too. To add insult to injury, the tool ends up clunking him on the head on the way down. We don’t think she was too broken up though: she was competing in the World Cup, after all. Pretty dang impressive!
