Is Minecraft a game engine ? Can you make games in minecraft ? With the help of modding tools like forge... kinda ? You can add mods that can do almost anything you want. You can alter the game so much that it pretty much becomes your own game and thanks to the fact you are building it on top of Minecraft, you don't have to code many things like the world generation or crafting mechanics. If you want to make a game similar to Minecraft, you might instead want to consider simply making a mod and saving yourself a lot of time and work.
In my case, I've been working on my own voxel engine and game and I'm happy because it gives me a lot more freedom than a minecraft mod and it also allows it to run alone unlike mods which obviously require the game. But for anyone who is new to programming and wants to learn, I think making minecraft mods can be good to learn programming. And if you're good enougj, you can kind of make games in minecraft as if it was an engine.
It doesn't really compare to big engines like Godot, Unity or Unreal Engine 5, but Minecraft does give people the chance to make some pretty cool things pretty fast.
To test it out in this video I made a one piece inspired mod by adding the observation haki, conqueror's haki, sanji's diable jambe and of course the classic anime sword slash that is sent forward and destroys things. It was honestly really fun to make and use, even with forge that changes all its code every update for some reason that made it really hard for me to find how to do things. World was changed to Level... why ? Was that necessary ? anyway...
