USAFE-AFAFRICA 2020 Memorial Day Message
For centuries, Americans have faithfully responded to our Nation’s call with honor and courage. Dedicated men and women from ALL walks of life have
given their lives in defense of the United States and our allies. And even though their sacrifice can never be repaid – it can be honored. Their stories can be told, their memories kept alive.
More than 200 thousand of our fallen from World War I and World War II are
remembered in cemeteries across Europe and Africa. American heroes, who gave their lives for freedom, peace, democracy, and human dignity.
Today, we honor the legacy of every fallen service member by remaining ready to respond to complex challenges in Europe, Africa, and around the globe. A testament to more than one million Americans who have fallen in battle or remain missing in foreign lands.
So on this Memorial Day, USAFE-AFAFRICA honors our Nation’s sons and daughters who have paid the ultimate sacrifice, by ensuring their legacies are never forgotten.
