The Amistad, the story of how men of faith collaborated to enforce the law of 1803 which prohibited the importation of slaves. Dwight James, Joshua Leavitt, Lewis Tappan and Simeon Jocellyn were just a few of the abolitionist that led the path to free Cinque. Chester, South Carolina's Pinckney Castle was the site of a similar incident. The Echo, was seized by the Federal Marshalls for importing slaves. The slaves were held at the Pinckney Castle and then returned home.
