Gaming on Google Fiber
Gigabit Internet is fast but ping and jitter are important for multiplayer gaming too. A look at how a better connection has changed my gaming experience in the past month. Using the leaderboards from Black Ops 2 I was able to compare score per minute and kill death ratio from the two months prior to the upgrade and again a month after. Fiber helped some but simply getting better at the game can help more. And the DSL connection from before could be fairly bad for gaming at times.
Unfortunately it looks like Google and Comcast have some serious routing issues and all traffic between them is going through California, adding a significant amount of lag.
