It's been a while, but Love/Hate/London is back with a new video - and a wonderful musician. Stevon Russell is a London-based (obviously) one-man band who uses the noises the city makes as inspiration for his music. He calls his one man band, WINDOW Stevon Russell and his music style, Nu Wave Punk Phlegmenco.
We recorded the video on a particularly windy day, but that didn't stop Stevon from recording some unique sounds most of us never even register. He meanwhile uses them in his music. The bass drum in the song used in the film, for example, is the sound of a freezer door slamming, the click sound is a gas cooker igniter and the snare sound is a toilet seat slamming shut.
In the film Stevon talks about his music, his fascination with London but also about what the city does to the people who live here.
