LCR meter is a type of electronic test equipment that is used to measure inductance (L), capacitance (C) and resistance (R) of an electronic component. In simpler versions of this instrument, impedance was measured internally and displayed as a value. The corresponding capacitance or inductance was converted. If the piece of capacitor or inductor under test does not have a significant resistive component of impedance, the readings should be fairly accurate. More advanced designs measure the true inductance or capacitance as well as the equivalent series resistance of capacitors and the factor of quality of inductive components.
This instrument is made by PeakTech and has relatively good accuracy. There are two methods for measuring each of the values: Auto LCR method and the second method of selecting manual adjustment.
In any case, the displayed values are determined according to the measurement frequency. Often capacitors with low capacity are measured at low frequency and capacitors with higher capacity are measured at high frequency.
To measure the resistance, it is better to perform the test at different frequencies to check the performance of the low resistance at different frequencies.
