Tree planting at LPPCHEA 2019 - UTROS Environmental Research and Development
UTROS in Philippines conducted a tree planting activity last August 31, 2019 at Las Pinas – Paranaque Critical Habitat and Ecotourism Area (LPPCHEA). The Las Pinas – Paranaque Critical Habitat and Ecotourism Area, also known as the Las PInas – Paranaque Wetland Park is a protected area at the coasts of the cities of Las Pinas and Paranaque in Metro Manila. LPPCHEA is a nature reserve of mangroves, ponds, lagoons, mudflats, salt marshes and mixes beach forest. LPPCHEA play a critical role where important restricted range and congregation bird species from China, Japan and Siberia are found.
This activity aims to raise awareness the importance of planting and savings trees in our society; express our concern to the environment and lessen the bad effects of climate change; Improve the urban environment through planting trees; Facilitate collaboration with community groups and individuals to find solutions to urban environmental challenges trees.
The activity was attended by thirty seven (37) people from different groups and individuals including the Elizabeth Seton School from Las Pinas, UTROS members, students and other individual who came out of their busy schedules. A total of 50 seedlings of lansones, atis and guyabano were planted at LPPCHEA, freedom island.
