Puzzled - Matt Scrutton
The initial voice memo idea for this was called Stargazing, that idea is now the first section of this song. I didn't intend for this to become a 3 part song or to go for 8 minutes. But as the song kept getting longer without feeling finished, that's what felt the most comfortable. In the end it became like a piece of classical music with an identifiable beginning, middle & end.
I put this together over my Xmas/New years holidays of 2022/2023. It took about 5-6 weeks of practising for 3-4 hours a day 2-3 times a week, for the composition to feel complete.
A few of the boys at the cricket club wanted me to call the next idea Puzzle, after the racing greyhound I'm a part owner in. Given the length of time and puzzle like nature of putting this idea together I thought 'Puzzled' was an appropriate name.
This is the last demo idea for this playlist of compositions. The form this album eventually takes, will come together in time. I don't know when, I'm notorious for writing songs that comprise a album of music & never recording or releasing them properly.
PS – The video & audio are both recorded at the same time using my phone. I don’t own a personal computer, so this is the best quality you’ll get for now.
