Hello everyone! In this video, we'll walk you through the installation process of LM Studio, a user-friendly program designed for running Large Language Models (LLMs) locally with ease. LM Studio serves as an excellent local alternative to ChatGPT and Gemini, offering various features to enhance your experience. You can explore multiple models within the program and enjoy support for popular models with varying levels of quantization. This means you can run 7 billion parameter model even on computers with limited RAM or without a dedicated GPU. I highly recommend the Mistral Open Hermes 2.5 Q4 model for optimal performance across various tasks—it strikes a balance between memory usage and precision. Ideally, a 6GB GPU is recommended for this model, while those with 4GB of video memory can try the Q2 version or the 2-bit option.

Moreover, LM Studio boasts additional features such as layer offloading, enabling you to load the model entirely onto your GPU or distribute certain layers between RAM and video memory for efficient model execution. You'll also find system prompts for customizing model behavior, along with server capabilities, which we'll go into deeper in future videos. If you found this video helpful, please consider giving it a thumbs up and subscribing! it truly makes a difference. Thank you for tuning in, and until next time!
