Performed by Christian Dillig (piano)
"Gorelky" is the second piece from the "Album for the Youth" by Genary Korganov (1858 - 1890), an Armenian-Russian composer who died very young at the age of 31.
The album was composed in 1890, the year of his death, but was only published posthumously in 1891 by the German publisher Daniel Rahter (Hamburg) with German and Russian titles. Korganov is regarded as one of the co-founders of classical Armenian music. Although he studied in Germany with Carl Reinecke, among others, he was later influenced more by Tchaikovsky and Rimsky-Korsakoff and allowed many Caucasian influences to flow into his music. The Caucasian influences are present in tracks no. 7 and 8, which I will soon put on YouTube.
In the meantime I have recorded all the tracks from the youth album - here are the titles with the links. I give a somewhat detailed introduction to the Youth album at the video of the 1st piece.

A playlist contains the pieces of the cycle, as well as a remarkable concert waltz, which was published in an American anthology by G. Schirmer Publishers in New York: • Genari Korganov: Album for the Youth ... I would like to add more pieces by this largely forgotten composer in the course of time.
Here you can find the complete Album for the Young with all the pieces as sheet music:

Korganov probably knew both Robert Schumann's Album for the Youth - the forefather of this subject - and Tchaikovsky's famous Album for the Youth.
After Schumann, a whole series of albums for the youth were written. I have already recorded two such albums for piano in their entirety:
Nikolai Amani's Album pour la jeunesse (12 pieces, Amani probably knew Korganov's album)
